I got into designing websites because I'm a big sci-fi geek.
Sci-fi geeks are serious about the stuff they love. They make many (MANY) sites talking about it. They spend ages in Photoshop making jaw-dropping graphics. They're visually adventurous and provide tons of constantly-updated content in stylish, well-organized ways. I watched. I coveted. I copied. I learned.
I'm now a CSS disciple (and have been told I'm a "whiz" at it) and lately it seems I'm specializing in Wordpress, since I both customize blogs and build sites with it more and more. I'm also proficient at "skinning" template sites like MySpace. I live in Photoshop, use Illustrator and Dreamweaver and a few tiny touches of JS and PHP. I'm also familiar with MySQL backends.
